Over the past year, we’ve heard from many families caring for loved ones with early-stage cognitive challenges who asked:
“Is there a way to locate my loved one if they become confused or wander away from home?”
We’re pleased to share that the answer is now yes.
Built From Your Feedback
UnaliCare Locate is one of the newest additions to the UnaliCare family of features.
While still in the early stages of its rollout, UnaliCare Locate has already been helping a small group of wearers and their families.
Whenever we learned that a new wearer or their family had concerns about memory changes or early cognitive decline, we offered them the opportunity to participate in UnaliCare Locate. Their experiences and their feedback have helped shape the feature as it continues to evolve.
We appreciate everyone who has shared suggestions and ideas along the way.
Independence Comes First
Many older adults want to continue living life on their own terms.
They enjoy walking through the neighborhood, visiting friends, attending church, shopping, and remaining active in their communities.
We believe they should be able to do those things without feeling like someone is constantly watching where they are.
That’s why UnaliCare Locate was designed to work only when it’s needed.
How It Works
If a wearer has chosen to participate in UnaliCare Locate and a trusted contact needs to find them, the trusted contact can request the wearer’s location.
They’ll receive a text message containing a secure Google Maps link showing the wearer’s current location.
The goal isn’t continuous monitoring.
The goal is helping families reunite quickly when a loved one becomes confused or can’t find their way home.
Privacy Is a Core Principle
One of the first questions families ask is:
“Can I see where my loved one is all the time?”
The answer is no.
UnaliCare Locate is not designed for continuous location monitoring.
There isn’t a live map that allows family members to watch where someone goes throughout the day.
Instead, location is provided only when it’s requested by a trusted contact, and only for wearers who have chosen to participate.
This reflects one of the principles that guides everything we do at UnaliWear:
Independence with dignity.
Safety should enhance independence, not replace it.
Wearers Remain in Control
Participation in UnaliCare Locate is always voluntary.
Wearers choose whether they want to enable the feature, and they can opt out if their preferences or circumstances change.
We believe the people using our technology should remain in control of how it’s used.
Looking Ahead
Like every new feature we introduce, UnaliCare Locate will continue to evolve as we learn from the families who use it.
Your feedback has already helped us build a solution that balances safety, privacy, and independence.
We’re excited to continue improving it together.
