Your watch does not have to pair with any other device to work—not a cellphone, base station, pendant, etc. Regarding your home Wi-Fi, the watch can connect through any provider of Wi-Fi service – whether that is Verizon, or another provider does not matter. The watch can even connect through permanent Wi-Fi hot spots, like MiFi.
