Last week, my Samsung watch unexpectedly sent a 911 alert text that I didn’t intentionally send.
I felt a vibration from the watch but didn’t realize the alert had been sent until the police showed up at my door.

Find out why so many former Samsung Watch wearers have switched to the Kanega Watch for fall safety protection.
Which detects falls better. The Samsung Watch or the Kanega Watch?
The Kanega Watch is the clear winner. No contest. Samsung forums are filled with complaints about inaccurate fall detection. Side sleepers report that simply rolling over too quickly can trigger false alerts during the night. Clapping hands? Can be detected as a fall. Other users complain that the Samsung Watch failed to detect actual falls. Why So?
The Samsung Watch is designed to detect “hard falls,” meaning it responds to any sudden, abrupt movement. A quick turn in bed or vigorous hand clapping could be interpreted as a fall. Conversely, a real fall—if slowed down or cushioned by breaking the impact with a hand—might not be detected because it doesn’t meet the threshold for “hard” movement.
The Kanega Watch is much smarter. Less likely to be tricked by false falls and understands that a fall doesn’t have to be hard to be serious. This more sophisticated approach results in fewer false positives and more reliable detection when it really matters.

A Medical Alert Watch Like No Other,
Including Apple™
The Kanega Watch vs the Samsung Watch - the main points
The Kanega Watch -
- Has far more accurate fall detection.
- Provides three ways to get help. Fall, Button, Voice.
- Offers 24/7 Protection. No taking it off to charge.
- Requires no setup. The Samsung Watch setup is quite tricky.
- Connects you to an emergency response team - far better than a 911 autodialer.
Kanega vs Samsung Emergency Response
One of the key differences between Samsung’s Fall Detection and Kanega’s is how responses are managed. Samsung sends a 911 alert when a fall is detected – leaving it up to operators to decide if it’s a real fall. With frequent false alarms, there’s a risk genuine emergency could be overlooked.
The Kanega Watch takes a smarter approach.
Alerts go to a trained live agent who immediately knows all the wearers info when receiving the alert. If the wearer is responsive, the agent can help with major (eg: dispatch EMS to GPS location) or minor (eg: call emergency contacts to assist) emergencies. If the wearer is not responsive, the agent can still get the help needed promptly. With Kanega, you can trust help will come when you need it most.

The Key Differences in Detail
The Apple and Kanega Watches side by side.
- Emergency Response Access:
The Kanega Watch connects users to trained specialists for both emergency and non-emergency situations, unlike the Samsung Watch, which can only connect directly to 911.
- One is a Smart Watch. One is a Fall Detection Watch
The Kanega Watch focuses on fall detection over smartphone features, ensuring battery life is dedicated to its primary purpose.
- Simplicity:
Kanega Watch is simple to use, requires no setup and just works. We don’t offer lots of options, just the absolute best set of options to ensure help is sent when you need it.
- Smartest Fall Detection:
The Kanega Watch is the only watch constantly monitoring falls to learn what is or might be a real fall. The Samsung watch uses the same test data as all other fall detection watches, trained only to detect a “Hard Fall”. Not all falls are the same, and not all fall detection watches are either.
- Standalone Device:
Kanega Watch doesn’t need a smartphone for full functionality -w whether your Samsung Watch needs to be connected to your phone depends on the Watch model
- No Long Contracts:
Kanega Watch users can choose a flexible, no-contract monthly or annual plan, whereas the Samsung Watch requires a cellular plan for standalone functionality.
- Continuous Wear:
The Kanega Watch’s battery swap system enables 24/7 wear, unlike the Samsung Watch, which requires daily charging and removal, leaving gaps in protection.
- Longer Trial Period:
The Kanega Watch provides a 30-day trial, twice as long as Samsung’s 15-day trial period.
- Purpose-Built for Safety:
Unlike the Samsung Watch, the Kanega Watch is purpose-built as a medical alert device for seniors, providing emergency support and medication reminders.
Our Users love the Kanega Watch Too

Absolutely awesome company to work with! Someone actually answers the phone in 3-5 rings. And yes we can understand their dialect.

I bought a Kanega watch from UnaliWear because my kids worry about me living alone. I was impressed by its thorough testing, no need to remove for charging, shower-safe design, and positive reviews. In October, I encountered battery issues—alerts to change batteries even when they were 50% charged, and display problems. After contacting UnaliWear, they replaced my watch for free and covered return postage. Their excellent customer service makes me feel secure knowing any problems will be promptly addressed.

There is no doubt in my mind and I expressed it whenever I’m talking to anybody about the safety and the experience I’ve had with your Service and Watch. Your service is outstanding. Your staff is cooperative and knowledgeable and I’ve answered all my requests promptly and to my satisfaction, you are in fact what a company should be integrity efficiency thank you for being so honest

All my questions were answered. My only complaint is that it was determined that one of my 4 batteries was not working. It will be replaced in a couple of days via FedEx but I have to pay $12.50 shipping. This, for a new device only one month old, seems a bit unfair to me.

I like the feeling of security we get using the watch. I know I’ll be notified in an emergency. I also appreciate its simplicity. While it is sometimes too sensitive, detecting a fall when my mom shakes out a blanket, it’s better to be overly sensitive than not sensitive enough.

My husband wore this watch continuously for fall protection. It looks just like an iWatch or other men’s watches. He liked the security it gave him and appreciated that he could wear it continuously, simply changing the batteries during breakfast. Although he found fitting the batteries frustrating in the first two weeks, he quickly learned the procedure. I strongly recommend this watch for anyone who needs fall protection.

The product itself is far superior to other medical alert devices on the market. But what is even more important is the superlative customer support that is provided. They are always available for all of your questions and concerns, unlike other companies who merely supply the item and then are impossible to contact for support.

I love my Kanega watch. It's quick to detect a fall or any problematic situation. I do not have a problem pressing the button to let them know that I'm OK. A battery came apart in the watch & I couldn't remove it. I called & I was sent a video showing what to do. Then we discussed why the batteries were not lasting 24 hours. He asked me to take pictures of my phone & email them. Within an hour I had a return call telling me that they are sending a new phone & instructions for returning the old one. I would feel lost if I didn't have my Kanega watch on my wrist. It gives me a sense of security.
